The Future of Tourism

Covid-19 and subsequent lockdowns have pushed the global travel industry towards breaking point. Travel restrictions meant to fight the spread of the coronavirus have grounded fleets, forced airlines to slash routes, led to cancelled holidays, causing bankruptcies, redundancies and major economic disruption.

The global economy needs the travel industry back up and running. But with an explosion of virus cases in Europe caused by summer vacations and cases continuing to spike in the U.S, passengers aren’t going anywhere. Not until restrictions are lifted, airport testing becomes widely available, and travellers feel safe.

Now is the time for the travel industry to transform its health and safety regimes to regain the confidence of passengers, policy-makers and investors. Join Bloomberg to hear global tourism executives share their vision for reinventing the tourist experience into a healthy and virus-free event and create a blueprint for the future of travel.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is a Government-subvented body. Operating 15 offices around the world and representative offices in seven different markets, its primary mission is to maximise the social and economic contribution that tourism makes to the community of Hong Kong and to consolidate the city’s position as a world-class destination. The HKTB works closely with the Government, travel industry and other partners to promote Hong Kong worldwide, widen the range of tourism products Hong Kong offers, elevate service standards, and enhance the visitor experience.

Participation is by invitation only.
