Bloomberg CEO Forum at G20
The world has changed. Throughout the pandemic we all found new ways of responding to old challenges. We proved we were resilient, we must now move into recovery.
The pandemic has been a wakeup call on many fronts. To improve responses to future public health crises, we must revolutionize our healthcare infrastructure. The net zero transition has never been more important with extreme heat ravaging the globe – we take a deep dive into what plans the region has for EV development. We also explore the unique opportunities and challenges in developing a smart capital city, where innovative technologies meet sustainable infrastructure. With supply chain woes and export restrictions on food lingering, we examine what technology will ensure agricultural self-sufficiency.
Held against the backdrop of the G20 summit, the Bloomberg CEO Forum in Bali will discuss actionable solutions to the most pressing issues we’re facing after three difficult years to ensure responsible, inclusive and sustainable growth. Moving forward together has never been more important, our shared prosperity and future depends on it.

9:40: AM WITA Supporting Recovery in Indonesia
A global spell of high inflation, aggressive monetary tightening and the risk of a recession are prompting economists to revise Indonesia’s economic forecasts for the remainder of the year. Bank Indonesia says it will ease payment rules on property and vehicle purchases from January. How much can that help? How will borrowing be impacted? What more can be done to cushion the population from the rising costs of everyday living?
- Meliza Musa Rusli, President Director, PermataBank
- Animesh Narang, CEO, Home Credit Indonesia
- Moderator: Stephen Engle, Chief North Asia Correspondent, Bloomberg TV and Radio

10:10 AM WITA EVs: The Road to Decarbonization
“What we want is the electric car, not the battery,” Indonesia’s President told Bloomberg News’ Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait in an interview back in August. The ambition is there, as are the raw materials. But what about the uptake of EVs required to reduce emissions at scale? We take a closer look at the opportunities for the adoption and manufacturing of EVs in Southeast Asia.
- Pras Ganesh, Executive Vice President, CISO, Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Executive Program Director, Asia-Pacific Region, Toyota Mobility Foundation
- Moderator: Allen Tom Abraham, Asia Pacific Transport Research Lead, BloombergNEF
10:30 AM WITA Sustainable Starts With Us
We’re in a state of constant disruption where one size no longer fits all. From education to the world of work organizations have to stay human, even in the digital age. Adapting, reskilling and taking on new roles should be a top priority for everyone at every stage on their journey. How can we prepare for a world in a constant state of disruption? What skills and commitments are needed? It’s a fundamental sustainability issue, so just how quickly can global institutions and leading companies step up?
- Sal Gordon, Head of School, Green School Bali
- Nicole Scoble-Williams, Partner, Global Future of Work Leader, Deloitte
- Moderator: Mallika Kapur, Deputy Global Editor, Bloomberg Live
10:50 AM WITA Networking break
11:15 AM WITA New Cities, Sustainable Cities
Pressure on our cities is a global problem, from sky-rocketing rents driving inequality in New York to climate change pushing up temperatures in Lagos. The pandemic has forced urban planners to rethink the spaces in which most of us live. Indonesia broke ground on its new capital, Nusantara, earlier this year. With 40% of the current capital city, Jakarta, already below sea level and sinking by up to 20cm (8 inches) a year in some places, it’s time to act. What will the cities of the future look like? How can tech support these new cities? Nusantara is expected to be finished in 2045, what will living together look like then?
- Raymond M. Lawler, CEO, Hines Asia Pacific
- Chintan Raveshia, Cities Business Leader, Southeast Asia, Arup
- Moderator: Stephen Engle, Chief North Asia Correspondent, Bloomberg TV and Radio
11:45 AM WITA Indonesia and the G20
We talk one-on-one with one of Indonesia’s most senior statesmen about the country’s proposed energy transition, as well as asking what are the rewards and drawbacks of being home to such a booming digital ecosystem? Indonesia is at the heart of a region which is facing the consequences of climate change, what can be done about it? Foreign direct investment is surging in Southeast Asia’s biggest economy in spite of a global downturn, how will Indonesia manage this in the longer term? We’ll also take on this year’s G20 theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” and hear from Minister Luhut in his role as Chairman of the G20 Organizing Committee.
- Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Republic of Indonesia
- Moderator: Yudith Ho, Indonesia Bureau Chief, Bloomberg
12:15 AM WITA Healthcare in Focus
If the pandemic has taught us anything it’s that the health system needs to be more inclusive, more equitable and more agile. For that, we need data and information systems, capable and qualified healthcare workers and agencies that can assess and move quickly. How has health infrastructure transformed post-Covid? What will “collaborating better” look like? And how will tech help?
