What defines a successful leader?
A successful leader helps others to succeed by imbuing optimism in the face of failure, humility in success, and dynamism in teams, within a clear strategic context.
Culture and talent are important to any company’s success. How do you engage and inspire your workforce?
TIM has defined clear operating principles (based on Roger Schwarz’s Eight Behaviours) that we practice in regular workshops that I sometimes lead. In addition, other members of the team lead more specialist workshops and industry forums for effective working practices.
Innovation and disruption are reshaping industries every day. What do you see as the number one game-changer facing businesses today?
Smart software with cheap processing and general Internet access have provided the major disruptions to date. These factors combined with other science-led innovations such as appropriate chemical mixes (eg for 3-D printing), improved genetic understanding, and cheaper energy will disrupt industries in the future.
Challenges abound in today’s fast-changing business environment. What keeps you up at night?
Not business! Challenges are opportunities, to learn from if nothing else.
